Ode: The Scion of Nerikan

the book sitting in a fantasy landscape
A tale about an immortal monster searching for a way to die, and the little girl who gives him reason to live...a little longer.

He had almost not run.

...He was caught, surrounded, and a hundred leagues away from any hope of rescue. He had lost a foolish game and he accepted that.

He did not fear the certainty of death. He was far too wise and lettered to believe in life eternal. No, the inevitability of death did not rattle his spine one facet.

By dying sure did.

The thought of being torn apart at the soft corners by a pack of wild beasts offended him so much that for the first time in forty summers, Edwin the Observer climbed a tree.

The old stories were true!

Ancient tales speak of the fabled Nerikan Prison where fearful creatures were once locked away. These were thought to be simply fantastic stories, but centuries later the lost prison has been found, and its last living creature has escaped!

A massive and hateful beast has been unleashed unto the world and is once again rampaging towns and hillsides. What it seeks, no one knows; but what it finds is a little firl who is not afraid.

And the bold child has one simple request of the monster:

To help her find her home

An ode to timeless fantasy stories of long ago, The Scion of Nerikan is an adventure that redefines family and friendship on an epic scale.
